Translated by Desk Report

Sagar Hossain, a village police member in Santhia upazila of Pabna, who had previously expressed reluctance to provide financial support for his mother, has agreed to take responsibility for her maintenance following court intervention. He also acknowledged his mistake and apologised to his mother and the people of Bangladesh.

The incident drew widespread attention and criticism after a video related to the matter, recorded at the office of the Santhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), circulated on social media on October 8.

After the matter came to the attention of a court in Pabna, an order was issued on Sunday (October 11) afternoon directing Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman to produce Sagar Hossain and his mother before the court.

Following the order, the OC took both mother and son to the court in his official vehicle.

The court heard statements from both Sagar and his mother and took the necessary steps to resolve the dispute between them.

Following the court's intervention, Sagar Hossain agreed to assume responsibility for his mother's maintenance and financial support.

During the proceedings, Sagar acknowledged his wrongdoing and apologised to his mother and the people of the country. He also assured that he would not repeat such behaviour towards his mother in the future.

The resolution of the dispute between the mother and son through court intervention has brought a sense of relief to the local community.
