Tenants have been accused of unlawfully occupying inherited property in the Upashahar area under Boalia Police Station in Rajshahi city. The heirs say the tenants have refused to hand over the property despite the expiry of the lease, causing them hardship. At a press conference, members of the affected family sought urgent intervention from the authorities to recover the property and restore their rightful ownership rights.

The family members said the house at A/203, Sector-1, Upashahar, was rented out under the name “Kalai House” for three years on November 1, 2023, with the consent of all heirs. Jahangir and Babu took the house as tenants. Under the agreement, the lease expired on October 30, 2026.

The heirs alleged that the tenants continued to occupy their shares of the house after the lease expired and refused to hand them over, depriving them of possession and use of their inherited property. The family has also filed a written complaint with the police station concerned seeking a resolution.

The accused cite an agreement to purchase the property.

Denying the allegation, Jahangir and Babu said they had reached an agreement to buy three sisters’ shares of the property for Tk 39 lakh. They said they paid Tk 10 lakh under a preliminary sale agreement for the land. They alleged that the owners had failed to register the sale as promised. They maintained that the allegations against them were entirely false.

The conflicting claims have led to a dispute over the inherited property. The heirs sought urgent intervention from the administration to recover possession and restore their rightful ownership rights.

Both sides said they expected lawful action and an effective resolution from the authorities concerned.
