Mirza Abbas, the local MP, political adviser to the prime minister and a member of the BNP standing committee, visited Durga Puja venues across the Dhaka-8 constituency and exchanged greetings with Hindu devotees on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja. Afroza Abbas, president of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal and chairman of the Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, accompanied him.

On Tuesday evening, they toured temples in the constituency and enquired about the overall festive atmosphere and security arrangements. They also exchanged greetings with members of the Puja organising committees and devotees.

As part of the visits, Mirza Abbas and Afroza Abbas went to the historic Ramna Kali Temple at 7:30pm. They then visited the temple in Dhaka University’s Shibbari residential area at 8pm and the university’s historic Jagannath Hall Puja venue at 8:30pm.

During the visits, Mirza Abbas said mutual respect, coexistence and communal harmony, regardless of religion or caste, were Bangladesh’s core strengths. He pledged to uphold this longstanding tradition so that people of every faith could celebrate their respective festivals safely and without disruption.
