The Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) has unveiled its new logo and official website while announcing that its next national council will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2027.

The announcements were made during a meeting of the party's Presidium Committee, its highest policymaking body, at JAGPA's central office in the capital's Asad Gate area on Saturday morning.

During the three-hour closed-door meeting, party leaders formally launched the new logo and website and discussed several key organisational and political issues.

The discussions focused on reforms and amendments to the party constitution, strategies for participating in the upcoming local government elections, and JAGPA's role and future course of action within the 11-party alliance. Several decisions were also taken on these matters.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, JAGPA President Barrister Tasmia Pradhan, MP, emphasised the importance of internal reforms within political parties.

"While we demand reforms to the national Constitution, loopholes often remain in the constitutions of political parties themselves. Reforms are necessary at every level to build a Bangladesh free from authoritarianism and hegemonic influence," she said.

She explained that the party had undertaken a comprehensive restructuring of its constitution as part of its commitment to organisational reform.

Tasmia Pradhan also said JAGPA had decided to strengthen its participation in political movements and street-level programmes as a member of the 11-party alliance.

Party General Secretary Professor Iqbal Hossain said JAGPA would reorganise its district and metropolitan committees across the country ahead of the national council scheduled for January 2.

He added that preparations were underway to hold the council through a democratic process, with extensive arrangements to ensure broad organisational participation.

JAGPA spokesperson and Presidium Member Rashed Pradhan said the newly introduced logo and website were designed to combine the party's historical identity with the aspirations and expectations of a new generation.

Outlining the party's electoral strategy, he said JAGPA would field candidates in union parishad, upazila and municipal elections.

However, the party would not nominate separate candidates in city corporation elections. Instead, it would extend its full support to the most suitable candidates nominated by the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance.

The Presidium Committee meeting was chaired by JAGPA President Barrister Tasmia Pradhan.

Other participants included General Secretary Professor Iqbal Hossain; First Vice-President Rashed Pradhan; Joint General Secretary Mahidur Rahman Babla; Presidium Member Asadur Rahman Khan; freedom fighter Syed Shafiqul Islam; VP Md Mujibur Rahman; Haji Md Hasmat Ullah; and Md Shamim Akhtar Pilot.

The meeting marked a significant step in JAGPA's organisational preparations ahead of its national council, with the party seeking to strengthen its internal structure, expand its political activities and consolidate its position within the 11-party alliance.
