Durga Puja ends today with immersion of idols
Translated by Burhan Joy

Abidur Rahman Nipu, Faridpur:
Sharadiya Durga Puja, the Hindu community’s main religious festival, ends today, Wednesday, with the immersion of idols.
Dashami Puja took place at various puja mandaps in Faridpur in the morning. Dashami Puja and Darpan Bisarjan, the symbolic immersion of a mirror, concluded the morning rituals.
In the afternoon, devotees will offer sweets, betel leaves and areca nuts to Goddess Durga as part of the farewell rituals. Women will take part in sindoor khela, the ritual application of vermilion, and aarti will also be performed. The immersion of idols will then bring this year’s Sharadiya Durga Puja festivities to a close.
On the final day of the festival, religious rituals are taking place at the puja mandaps in the presence of devotees. Through the immersion of idols, devotees will bid farewell to Goddess Durga and look forward to her return next year.
