Preparations Underway for Durga Puja at 76 Venues in Juri

Preparations are in full swing in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar district ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community. Final preparations are underway at temples and puja venues, with organisers busy arranging decorations and completing idol-making work to ensure a joyful celebration.

A total of 76 puja venues will host Durga Puja across the six unions of Juri Upazila this year. Of these, 71 are community-organised venues and five are privately organised, said Dr Pinku Das,member-secretary of the Juri Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad.

According to the union-wise breakdown, Phultala Union has 11 community-organised puja venues, Purba Juri Union has six, Sagnanal Union has nine community-organised and one privately organised venue, Goalbari Union has 10 community-organised and one privately organised venue, Jaifarnagar Union has 12 community-organised and one privately organised venue, while Paschim Juri Union has 23 community-organised and two privately organised venues.

Authorities Step Up Security Preparations

The district and upazila administrations, along with the police, are holding a series of meetings with puja organisers to ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations. Organisers are also strengthening their own security arrangements alongside the measures taken by the authorities.

Artisans are working intensively to complete the idols and decorations at various puja venues across the upazila. With careful strokes of their brushes, they are bringing the images of the goddess to life. Meanwhile, organisers are working to decorate the venues with colourful lighting, elaborate pandals and other festive arrangements.

The approaching festival has already created an atmosphere of excitement among members of the Hindu community. In addition to religious rituals, preparations are underway for cultural programmes and other festivities at various venues.

Festive Shopping Gains Momentum

Shopping has also picked up ahead of the festival, with people visiting local markets to buy new clothes for themselves and their family members. Demand for cosmetics, beauty products and footwear is also growing as shopkeepers display a wide range of goods to attract customers.

With idol-making,venue decoration,security arrangements and shopping activities gaining momentum, preparations for Sharadiya Durga Puja are progressing across Juri. Residents are eagerly awaiting the start of the festivities, which will bring religious observances and celebrations to puja venues throughout the upazila.
