A new road over an old canal
The canal that carried the monsoon away now runs under four lanes of traffic.

The canal on the eastern edge of the city still exists on paper. It does not exist on the ground.
What the drawings said The 2017 drawings put the road alongside the canal. The approved drawings put it on top, leaving two culverts for the water.
"Rain that used to drain in half an hour now takes a day."
Waterlogging records from five wards show the average standing-water time has more than tripled since the road opened.
